So what does it take to get kids back in school?

Who Clears The Parking Lots?

If you drive through Guilford County you may see school parking lots that haven't been cleared yet. It isn't on the City or the County to clean up those properties, it is actually the school responsibility. Maintenance persons are the ones who clear the snow and ice on the parking lots.

What About Residential Neighborhoods?

According to a post from the City of Greensboro Twitter, about 85% of residential neighborhoods are passable as of 7:27 p.m. on Wednesday.

The tweet went on to urge those driving to be cautious stating that patches of snow and ice still exist on the streets.

A second post in tandem with the first, mentioned that crews will continue plowing until 9:00 pm. Wednesday.

In addition, there will be 16 trucks working to complete the remaining residential streets.

What Other Preparations Have To Be Done To Make Sure Kids Get Back In School?

Dr. Contreras said when a big storm like this comes through, first priority is obviously the actual snow on the roads. Aside from that, the other main priority is power. You have to make sure the power comes back on, and the school is heated before kids can come back. These days in a 21st century classroom you need power so technology can work properly.
