WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WFMY) -- In preparation for snow due to hit the Triad over the weekend, the Winston-Salem Traffic Field Operations will go into snow mode at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

The Crews will work around the clock in rotating 12-hour shifts until no longer necessary.

City crews are already applying salt brine to roads and will continue to do so Saturday.

Once the storm hits crews will apply salt to all major roads, bridges and around hospitals and medical facilities.

Winston-Salem Police and Fire personnel will also assist the Operations Department in identifying other roads that need attention.

City Link, the city’s citizen-service contact center, will shift to 24-hour operations beginning Saturday through Tuesday, Dec. 11. The 24-hour activation will be extended if needed.
