ALASKA – A black bear killed a 16-year-old teenager who got lost during a race in Alaska.
Police said, the teen, Patrick Cooper was running the Bird Ridge Junior Division Race when he veered off the trail and was later attacked by a bear.
According to KTVA, Cooper called his brother during the race to tell him he was being attacked by a bear. Searchers found Patrick by tracking his cell phone. A volunteer found Patrick’s body but warned others to get back after the bear rushed from out of the bushes.

Troopers and Park Rangers shot the black bear but it ran away. Tom Crockett, Park Ranger, said the bear appeared to be a predatory bear opposed to a defensive, which is rare.
