Each year, on January 1, new state laws and amendments passed by the General Assembly go into effect.
There are 11 laws and/or amendments effective in NC at the start of the 2019.
Here are a few of the laws and/or amendments:
SB 655 PRIMARY ELECTION DATE CHANGE
The SB 655 is an act changing the date on which primary elections are held. It will require that all state primaries are held in presidential elections years to be held the Tuesday after the first Monday in March.
SB 758 BUILD NC BOND ACT
The SB 758 is an act that will enact the Build NC Bond Act of 2018. It will allow the state to sell up to $3 billion in bonds for transportation improvement projects.
SB 411 MOTOR VEHICLE LAW REVISIONS
The SB 411 is an act to expand the required use of the Electronic Lien System by the Division of Motor Vehicles. It also revises the law governing making title transfers and it also affects motor vehicle dealers.
SB 711 NC FARM BILL
North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper vetoed SB 711 the bill limits how and when neighbors of hog farms can sue the agricultural business with nuisance claims.
