Verify: Can reporters keep their opinions out of their stories?

CLEVELAND - There are 15,000 journalists swarming all over the Republican Convention in Cleveland. With so many voices from so many places, some people want to know if we’re getting the real story?

In his segment, called Verify, reporter David Schechter takes real people out to get their questions answered. Laura Jones from Ashtabula, Ohio, wants to know if reporters are able to keep their opinions out of their stories.

To allow Jones to go with Schechter where necessary to get her questions answered, TEGNA, our parent company, submitted her information for RNC credentials. With credentials in hand, she went to the media center and to the convention to talk with reporters.
