Cutting Up! Landscape-Related Jokes Wanted For Summerfield Business Sign

Think you're funny? Here's your chance to share your humor with the entire community. Southern Exposure Landscape Management Inc. & Southern Lights is asking for clean, landscape-related jokes for its outdoor sign.

SUMMERFIELD, N.C. -- A landscaping and outdoor lighting company in Summerfield welcomes its customers with funny signs.

Southern Exposure Landscape Management Inc. and Southern Lights has headquarters in Summerfield off of Highway 150 W. It's located in a building with a lot of history.

“As far as I know when we bought the property ten year ago they did not know the exact date of origin but they said it was close to 200 years old,” owner Pete Bryant said. “Its on the National Historic Registry so we are made to keep it as original as possible, also it's a landmark in the Summerfield community so we didn't want to take anything away from that.”

Because the building and company are such a staple in the Summerfield community, Bryant wants to make sure they stand out. For the past decade, he's been putting up funny landscape-related jokes on their prominent outdoor sign.

Ready for a laugh? Some of their best have included:

"Compost Happens."

"What Kind of Socks Does a Gardener Wear? Garden Hose."

"Mow Money, Mow Problems."

"What Did the Tree Wear to the Pool? Swimming Trunks."

Get it?!

Now he needs your help with fresh ideas! He's reached out on social media in the past for new material.

"Some of it definitely stems from our staff and myself but also it's fun to engage and get some feedback from clients online or on social media."

You can submit your ideas on our WFMY Facebook page. Bryants just asks that you keep the jokes and puns clean.

“When we have posted it out there for options or ideas for posts it has been funny and comical on the answers we get back, some of them can be printed, and some of them can’t be.”

Get involved! Bryant emphasizes that he does it to be a part of the community.

"I love what I do I've been doing this for 23 years. I not only want to be seen as the expert in landscaping and outdoor lighting but also be someone who cares about the community."

The building Bryant works in has seen many businesses come and go over the years. It used to be a general store, auction house and pony express just to name a few.
