BARNESVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- A helicopter crashed in rural Lamar County this morning, killing three. Federal authorities say the chopper crashed around 5:45 a.m. behind a home near Barnesville, south of Atlanta, and killed all those abroad. No one on the ground was hurt. The victims were identified as the pilot Wyatt Zane Rogers of Spartanburg, South Carolina and two passengers, Kendall and Kelly Laudermilk. Lamar County Sheriff Larry Waller says the chartered Robinson R-44 helicopter had left from Greenville Downtown Airport in South Carolina and was headed to Apalachicola Municipal Airport inFlorida. Federal officials are investigating the cause of the crash, which occurred on Perdue Road near state Highway 36. A witness who lives near the scene of the crash told WXIA-TV that he saw flames and an explosion. Authorities say the helicopter is registered to M-G Aviation of Greenville, South Carolina.
