Business 40 Is Going to Be a Hot Construction Mess for Days; Detour Details

There are two major projects happening that will impact your routine and possibly snarl your mood.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- Drivers beware and pack your patience, if your daily routine includes driving along Business 40 in Forsyth County.

There are two major projects happening that will impact your routine and possibly snarl your mood.

Construction Project 1: Crane Staging and Girder Installation Work as part of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project in the Kernersville area.

How will it affect you and when: Single and full lane closures, between mile marker 10 and 14, will take place overnight between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting Wednesday (July 18) until work wraps up Sunday, July 29.

No closures will take place on Sunday nights.

DETOUR INFO: Drivers will be able to detour using South Main Street, Kernersville Road and Old Linville Road.

Construction Project 2: Business 40 Improvement Project work

Where: Winston-Salem.

The NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) contractors will close lanes along portions of eastbound Business 40 starting this weekend for paving and loop construction.

The first lane closure will take place on eastbound Business 40 as it approaches Peters Creek Parkway from 7 p.m. Friday, July 20, until 7 a.m. Saturday, July 21, while crews work on tie-ins to the new exit loop.

The second closure requires crews to close the Peters Creek Parkway exit ramp at eastbound Business 40 from 6 a.m. Saturday, July 21, until 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, while crews reconfigure the ramp into a loop.

DETOUR INFORMATION: Drivers will be detoured around the ramp closure utilizing Broad Street
