CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Neighbors in north Charlotte are fed up with a man they say has been standing in his doorway naked in front of anyone driving or walking by.
"It's been going on for some years now," said Neighborhood Association President Xavier Hodges. "We're tired of it."
Hodges says it's common knowledge throughout the Cardinal Glen area.
"We have a neighbor who likes to expose himself," Hodges said.
People on Osage Circle sent WCNC photos and videos of the man. CMPD says they've gotten four service calls just this year about it, but they've never made an arrest.
"I just don't understand, it should be against the law," said neighbor Pecolia Threatt. "He's in his house but he's buck naked. Come on."
"The question becomes whether or not it's private if he's standing at the front door and exposing himself to everyone," said Attorney Miranda Mills.
Mills says she believes that's why he hasn't been charged with indecent exposure.
"He's actually physically in his home and the home is a private property," Mills said. "It's a private residence."
If he were to walk outside and stand in his driveway she says things that could change things.
"Then potentially he is exposed to a charge, because your driveway is actually an area that is readily accessible to the public," Mills said.
Mills says with the way the law stands now, she's not sure there's much that the neighborhood association can do.
"It's a problem," Threatt said. "Especially when you have young kids around. It's a problem."
Threatt and Hodges say they're in the process of planning an emergency neighborhood association meeting to discuss their options.
