GREENSBORO, N.C. — It's time for 'My 2 Cents.'
I had something completely different in mind for today - but this hit me this morning and I just feel like now is the right moment to say something.
If you haven't been taking this pandemic seriously, it's time to start.
It's tough - because some people don't believe it's real or believe it's been made into something bigger than it actually is. People don't wear a mask because they don't feel like it or don't think they need to. Some are still getting together in large groups with no precautions in place simply because they think it's all hype.
Even if you don't want to listen to the health experts or elected leaders. Even if you don't believe the facts and cold, hard data that is put out every single day about people who are in the hospital and even dying from this virus - listen to the families.
Listen to the people who lost loved ones, who will never get to speak to or see or interact with a family member again because of this virus. People who didn't get to say goodbye to their dad, brother, grandma, aunt, because they died all alone, in isolation with strangers around them.
I know it's tough to hear. I know it might even be pointless for me to bark up this tree but my heart is breaking for the people who have been left behind and it's on me and you to make sure no other family has to go through this.
You know what it takes, I implore you to take this virus seriously because your actions affect others. And that right there, should be enough.
