My 2 Cents: Take part in World Mental Health Day

It's a day meant to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world. WFMY News 2's Taheshah Moise shares how you can get involved.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — World Mental Health day is Saturday, October 10.

It's a day to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world. In other years it could be a day that is overlooked. But I feel this year, it has a new sense of urgency.

Think about it. COVID -19 has taken a mental and emotional toll on all of us. There's been the social isolation, rising anxiety about the future, and the list goes on.

It can be a lot to process. So this year, I say lean into it. Do something for you Saturday. Craft a coffee drink with all the extras. Read a few pages of that book you've been meaning to. Take a drive somewhere you can see the leaves changing color.

Whatever you choose, be present in that moment.  Leave the stress of life behind even if it's just for 20 minutes.

And you know I'm gonna say it. Yes, World Mental Health Day is tomorrow, but really that's something you should be paying attention to every day.

If you care to, share with me on my Facebook page what you are going to do for you. I'd love to know.

That's "My 2 Cents."
