GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The North Carolina A&T baseball team is heading back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 13 years.

They'll open tournament play against North Carolina in the Chapel Hill Regional.

The team learned the news at an NCAA Tournament Selection Special watch party Monday at the Bryan Fitness and Wellness Center on campus.

The Aggies are the fourth seed in a region that features the hosts from UNC, second-seeded Purdue and the third seed Houston. The four teams will play in a double elimination tournament, with the winner advancing to Super Regionals.

A&T and UNC will play in the region's opening game Friday at 2 p.m. at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill.

This will be a rematch of a defensive battle where the Tar Heels pulled off a 1-0 win against the Aggies in March.

A&T won its first MEAC Tournament Championship since 2005 to earn an automatic bid to this year's NCAA Tournament. The Aggies will look to earn their first ever NCAA Tournament win this year.
