THURSDAY

Duke beats Syracuse 84-72 advancing to the semifinals where they will take on UNC. The game airs Friday night at 9:00 p.m. with the winner heading to the ACC Tournament Championship title.

2:12 - Cavaliers push the lead out to 57-41 with eight minutes left.

2:08 - UVA leads 51-41 with 10 minutes left.

1:58 - Virginia has gotten hot and jumped out to a 46-37 lead.

1:44 - Markell Johnson, Wednesday's hero, nails a 3 to put State up 34-30.

1:22 - At halftime, NC State leads top seed Virginia 29-27. Kyle Guy has 14 points for UVA. DJ Funderburk has 10 points for the Wolfpack.

The first two rounds are complete with the championship contenders ready to take the stage at the ACC Tournament. Here's a look at Thursday's quarterfinal matchups:

  • NC State vs. Virginia - 12:30 p.m.
  • Virginia Tech vs. Florida State - 2:50 p.m.
  • Louisville vs. UNC - 7 p.m.
  • Syracuse vs. Duke - 9:20 p.m.

In the late game, Duke star freshman Zion Williamson is expected to make his anticipated return after spraining his knee on Feb. 20 against UNC. UNC and Duke victories Thursday would create a third clash this season between the rivals. The Tar Heels have won the last three games in the series. Williams was voted the ACC's Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year on Monday.

2:03 - The Wolfpack hang on and advance to Thursday. Markell Johnson's 23 points guide state to a huge second-half comeback. Clemson once led by 18 points. What a game!

1:59 - Markell Johnson hits two free throws to give State a 59-58 lead with 2.6 seconds to play.

1:53 - Tigers lead 58-57 with exactly one minute to play.

1:48 - Clemson back up 58-57 after a putback bucket.

1:45 - The Wolfpack have regained the lead at 53-52!

1:30 - State has pulled to within 51-47 after being down 16 at the half.

12:13 - Clemson goes on a 7-0 run and jumps out to a 15-6 lead on the Wolfpack, who call timeout.

The second-round begins Wednesday with a pair of teams needed wins to polish their NCAA Tournament resume. NC State and Clemson start at noon looking to get off the bubble. State beat Clemson 69-67 in Raleigh on Jan. 26 thanks to a Braxton Beverly buzzer-beating 3-pointer.

  • 7 p.m. – No. 15 Notre Dame vs. No. 7 Louisville
  • 9 p.m. – No. 14 Pitt vs. No. 6 Syracuse (20 minutes After Pitt/Syracuse Ends)

2:04 p.m. - Miami hangs on and will advance to Wednesday. The Hurricanes win it 79-71. Georgia Tech and Notre Dame will tip-off next.

1:47 p.m. - The Demon Deacons have pulled to within 70-66 with less than four minutes left. Wake is on an 11-2 run. 

1:33 p.m. - The Hurricanes have stretched the lead out to 54-45 with 10 minutes to play.

1:20 p.m. - Miami leads Wake Forest 46-37 early in the second half.

The train service to the ACC Tourney offers four daily round trips between Raleigh and Charlotte with seven stops in between, including Cary, Durham, Burlington, Greensboro, High Point, Salisbury and Kannapolis.

12:55 p.m. - Miami is up 34-31 on Wake Forest at halftime after a late 3.

March is here and we've got all the details for the 66th annual ACC Tournament in Charlotte. There are 15 teams, 14 games and possibly three No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament at stake this week in the Queen City.

The top four seeds of Virginia, North Carolina, Duke and Florida State all have double byes and start play in Thursday's quarterfinal. The Cavaliers are defending ACC champions and earned the No. 1 seed. UVA coach Tony Bennett was named ACC Coach of the Year Monday with Kyle Guy and De'Andre Hunter on the All-ACC first-team. Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett of Duke were All-ACC picks as was UNC's Cam Johnson.

The second round starts Wednesday with Clemson playing NC State in the 8-9 game at noon. Wake Forest kicks off the tournament against Miami Tuesday at noon.
