GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The field for the 2018 Men's NCAA Tournament is officially set, and for the first time since 2001, the bracket will include the Spartans of UNCG.
Players and hundreds of UNCG fans gathered at the Elliott University Center to celebrate as the Spartans learned they earned the 13th seed in the West Region. They will take on 4th seeded Gonzaga in round one of this year's tournament.
The game is set for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Taco Bell Arena in Boise, ID.
UNCG will make its third trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history; the other two appearances were in 1996 and 2001. This year, the team will look to earn its first-ever NCAA Tournament win.
The Spartans earned a bid to this year's tournament after winning the Southern Conference regular season title for the second year in a row and claiming the SoCon tournament title in Asheville.
The team also finished with a program-record 27 wins this season.
