Fans are in store for an exciting weekend at VIRginia International Raceway.

ALTON, VA -- The Pirelli World Challenge is set to return to VIRginia International Raceway for the second year in a row.

PWC brings multi-class auto racing back to Virginia. Fans can see some of the world's best drivers racing Porsches, McLarens, Bentleys and other powerful cars around the 3.27-mile course this week.

One driver is Charlotte native Scott Heckert. He was a full-time NASCAR driver before making the transition to PWC racing in 2016.

"I just got drawn to it by the great crowds and really competitive racing," he said.

He says PWC racing at VIR is an exciting brand of racing fans will love to see and drivers will love to experience.

"VIR, it's like a roller coaster really, we kind of go up and down through the hills there," he said. "It's beautiful scenery all around the race track, so it's just one of the most enjoyable race tracks, not only in the states, but in the world."
