GREENSBORO, N.C. -- You can get free paper, pencils and backpacks this weekend at a back to school giveaway. A Greensboro non-profit wants to take those supplies off your back to school shopping list.
The "I Am A Queen" Foundation has plenty to go around; about 1,000 backpacks and even more supplies will be handed out on a first come, first serve basis.
This is the 10th year Alana Allen has put on the giveaway. Allen says the need is great every year.
The giveaway includes backpacks, pencils, pens, folders, paper, notebooks and more. You don't need to register but all children must be present to receive school supplies.
The giveaway is this Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 10 a.m. until supplies last. Come early and expect to wait at least an hour in line. The giveaway is at the Windsor Recreation Center on East Gate City Boulevard in Greensboro.
