Man killed in Greensboro crash wasn't wearing seatbelt, police say

Police said Robert William Sick, 41, overcorrected and crashed his car into a tree. He died at the scene.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man died after he crashed his car into a tree in Greensboro on Tuesday. 

The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Alamance Church Road near Bristol Road and involved a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. 

Police said 41-year-old Robert William Sick, of Greensboro, went off the road to the right, overcorrected, and then crashed into a tree on the left of the roadway. 

Police said Sick was not wearing his seatbelt and died from his injuries at the scene. 

It's unclear why he left the roadway. The crash is being investigated by the Greensboro Police Crash Reconstruction Unit. 

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, 43% of the people who died in traffic accidents in 2019, weren't wearing a seatbelt.
