GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man died after being hit by an 18-wheeler, police said.

According to investigators, Vielace Rudolph Tippett, 77, was originally reported missing last seen on Lansing Drive in Winston-Salem and a Silver Alert was issued for him.

However, Greensboro police said Tippett ran into the path of a tractor-trailer truck Monday around 8:43 a.m. on U.S. 29 South Exit Ramp and Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.
