90° Heat Here To Stay For Days

Heat Wave Will Grip the Carolinas Over the Next Week

GREENSBORO, NC -- Are you used to the heat? You'd better be, because it's sticking around for a long time as we head into July.

A heat wave sweeping across the country will keep the Carolinas cooking over the next week, and maybe even longer than that. High temperatures will be at or above 90 through the first week of July. This weekend, plan on highs in the low 90s with a heat index in the upper 90s.

Heading into next week, highs will jump into the mid 90s. This won't break any records, but it will mean some oppressive heat and humidity. The heat index will approach 100 degrees at times.

The length of this heat wave is still unknown. Computer models indicate significant heat will grip the eastern half of the country for the next few weeks.
