FORECAST: Active Weather Early This Week; Then A Taste of Fall

Active Weather To Start The Week, Then A Taste of Fall Late Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The week will start off on an active note, with scattered showers and storms possible through mid week. By late week, we'll get a taste of fall with much drier air, along with sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and overnight nows in the 50s for some locations.

Tuesday, warmer and more humid air will move into the Piedmont ahead of the arrival of a strong cold front Wednesday. The warm and muggy air in place will work in tandem with upper level energy passing through Tuesday to introduce a chance of severe weather into our area late Tuesday into Tuesday night. The main threats from the storms late Tuesday will be heavy rain, frequent lightning, and damaging straight line winds. An isolated tornado can't be totally ruled out, but at this point, that threat appears fairly low.

Wednesday, the cold front will move through with just a few light showers possible. Late Wednesday, cooler and drier air will begin to rush into the area, leading to a nice stretch of days to end the work week. By sunrise Thursday, temperatures will have fallen into the upper 50s to low 60s behind the front. Highs Thursday afternoon will warm into the upper 70s to low 80s, under mostly sunny skies. The fall like weather will continue into at least the first half of the weekend.
