HIGH POINT, NC - High Point Police have arrested a second teenager in connection with a shooting at High Point Central High.

Police said in a tweet, the “Student was a willing participant in the events that led to the shot being fired.”

The second arrest comes after police arrested a 15-year-old boy who was turned into the police department Monday by his parents.

Police said the teen faces charges of Trespassing, Possession of a Firearm by a Minor, and Assault With a Deadly Weapon. His name has not been released because he is a juvenile. Police said the shooting wasn't random and was gang related according to a tweet by the department.

According to HPPD Lt. Curtis Cheeks, the teen is not a High Point Central student, and he doesn't even go to a Guilford County school.

The teen was also placed in juvenile detention and he had a hearing Tuesday morning.

The shooting took place Monday afternoon on High Point Central’s campus. It led to a lockdown of two schools including both Central and Ferndale Middle. Police say a single shot was fired outside of the building, and a bullet struck glass in a cafeteria door.

Lt. Cheeks said at some point, the suspect was inside the school - that's how surveillance cameras captured him. Police didn't have information on what kind of gun the teen had. Police said there were no injuries and no EMS units responded to the school.

Lt. Cheeks said this was an isolated incident, and after school activities went on as scheduled.
Extra police officers were on campus Tuesday.

A Guilford County Schools spokesperson said the lockdown was announced over the PA system around 2:30 p.m. GCS said the school system will likely issue a statement on the incident.
