Republican Ted Budd has defeated Democrat Scott Huffman in the battle for U.S. House North Carolina District 13.

Team Budd released the following statement Wednesday about Budd's win.

"Thank you so much for your constant support throughout our campaign. We could not have sent Ted Budd over the finish line if it weren't for YOU. So much hard work has gone into this race, but just because we won does not mean the momentum stops!"

According to the release, Team Budd stated you can count on Ted to do the following:

-UPHOLD LAW AND ORDER.
-DEFEND YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.
-STAND UP FOR NORTH CAROLINA BUSINESSES.
-FIGHT FOR YOU EVERY SINGLE DAY IN CONGRESS.

Budd assumed office on Jan. 3, 2017, and now with his most recent win, is set to begin another term after his current one ends on January 2, 2021.

Budd is also the owner of a gun range and store in Rural Hall.

"As the owner of a gun store, I have a unique perspective on one of our Constitution’s most cherished rights. I believe that one of the solutions to violence in our country is a well-trained and responsible citizenry. I will never allow our Second Amendment rights to be infringed," Budd said in a statement on his website.

North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District includes Davidson, Davie, Rowan, Randolph, Alamance, Person and Caswell counties, and portions of Chatham and Lee counties.
