WEATHER SUMMARY:
Are you tired of the rain yet? Unfortunately, we're headed for more of it, too with a wet weekend on the way for our area at times. Weak high pressure is in control, keeping us dry for most of the day, until we get into this evening. An approaching area of low pressure and a cold front will move our way going into Saturday with rain chances increasing tonight through our Saturday. A few isolated showers or pop up storms are possible this evening, with one or two possibly getting a little bumpy or even severe. Our severe risk is very low overall, but damaging wind and hail would be our concern in the strongest storms. Rain chances will go up overnight into Saturday with on and off rain looking likely Saturday, but the higher rain chance and even the chance for a storm or two will come in the afternoon. We may even have some longer breaks or "dry time" for Saturday morning.
Sunday will start wet as our system moves on through, but we could start drying out by Sunday afternoon and evening. This would be good news for the North Wilkesboro All-Star race. We'll dry out for a few days heading into next week. Temperatures seem to be trending a little cooler for the first part of the week as high pressure to our north and low pressure off the coast deliver cooler and moist air. This may also give us extra clouds for Monday, too with high temperatures in the low 70s, but warming up to near 80 by Tuesday and low 80s Wednesday.
The normal low is 57, and the normal high is 78.
