GREENSBORO, NC -- It's the statement you're going to hear over and over, "Turn around don't drown". In all the government animations, it's easy enough. You make the three point turn and you go back. But what if you're on I-40 or Highway 29 and you're not near an exit?
Check out the graphic 2WTK made to explain. If the water is pooled up ahead and there is no exit, turning around on the interstate and driving up the wrong way is not an option.
The NC Highway Patrol says get on a shoulder if you can and out of the main stream traffic. If not, put on your hazards and call 911. Don't try and get people to turn around. Simply wait for Highway Patrol.
