Greensboro Man Dies After Tree Falls on Car During Tornado

Anthony George was driving on E. Cone Blvd. in Greensboro when a tree hit his car around 5:45 p.m. near the Caesar St. intersection according to Greensboro police.

GREENSBORO - A 48-year-old Greensboro man died when a tree fell on his car Sunday afternoon in the midst of a severe storm that included a tornado.

Anthony George was driving on E. Cone Blvd. in Greensboro when a tree hit his car around 5:45 p.m. near the Caesar St. intersection according to Greensboro police. George died from his injuries.

E. Cone was briefly closed because of the tree across the roadway.

The same tree also fell on Becky Combs, of Liberty, who was also driving east on E. Cone. Combs and Renee George had non life-threatening injuries.

Greensboro is under a state of emergency after widespread damage caused by the storm.
