MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- Early Sunday Martinsville Speedway owners made the decision to postpone Sunday race activities, including the STP500. The race is now scheduled to take place Monday at 2pm.

PREVIOUS STORY, Friday March 22 | NASCAR fans are watching the forecast closely.

The threat of winter weather has Richard Childress Racing poking fun of the snow, threatening Southern Virginia.

RCR posted this joke on twitter, "We made some minor tweaks for the S-T-P-500 this weekend at Martinsville Speedway...This will pass inspection, right?"

In the tweet, the cars were transformed into snowmobiles.

You hear Darrell Waltrip say it every Sunday.

"Boogity, boogity, boogity, let's go racing boys!"

This week could he be saying "sledding" instead of "racing?"

"Worst-case scenario, we've got equipment to get the track cleared, and we will put that in place if we have to and we will come through and dry the track. We're half mile track so it's not like some of these bigger tracks that may take two or three hours – – we can get this track dried in an hour if we have to," said Brooks Taylor with Martinsville Speedway.

He makes a good point. One advantage of Martinsville is it's size. WIth a small track, not only is the action fast -- so is the cleanup.

Martinsville is prepared for a delay and they have lights in case they have to start after it get's dark.

They say some of their best races have come after sketchy morning weather.

"If you've been around here you know the Martinsville area, Greensboro area, you know it can change on a dime. So, everything has to come over the mountains in the mountains breaks up a whole lot of stuff so right now we are just going forward with it being at 2 o'clock," said Taylor.

You heard it here. 2 o'clock -- Sunday.

Taylor says if you have a ticket -- plan on being there!

While it is rare -- winter weather has caused headaches at certain races throughout the years.

Qualifying was canceled in 2006 at Bristol, and there was also snow in '08 in Atlanta.
