Amazon truck catches fire on I-40 East in Alamance County

The truck fire caused a traffic backup for miles early Wednesday morning.

MEBANE, N.C. — An Amazon delivery truck caught on fire in Alamance County causing a backup for miles Wednesday morning. 

Just after 6 a.m. the State Highway Patrol responded to the truck fire on I-40 East near Mebane Oaks Road. 

Troopers said an Amazon delivery truck driver was going east on I-40 when the driver noticed that the truck had caught fire. The driver safely stopped the truck and reported the fire. 

Mebane Fire Department responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is unknown, and the driver is okay.
