Rain Turns to Sleet & Snow Late Saturday

Wild weather awaits this Saturday. Temperatures will drop 25 degrees during the day. We may even see a trace of sleet / wet snow.

GREENSBORO, NC -- It'll be a wild ride on Saturday. Temperatures will start warm, then drop, rain will move in, and it may end as a sleet / wet snow mix. Major impacts aren't expected, but a light grassy accumulation could be possible. Freezing temperatures await for Sunday morning.

This chilly rain we've dealt with all day many end as a little sleet or even wet snow mixed in with the rain for a few hours. A light grassy accumulation of a half inch or so can't be ruled out in the Piedmont. A bit more in southern Virginia. Ground temperatures are well above freezing and precipitation rates won't be all that high in general, so travel impacts aren't expected.

We'll dry out and get colder Saturday night into Sunday morning. Lows will be right around 30 Sunday morning, with a frost or freeze likely across the entire area.
