GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year... WFMY News 2 turns 75! So to celebrate... We're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.

We're only taking a short walk down memory lane today to just one year ago.

That was supposed to be a franchise-changing day for the Carolina Panthers.

The team selected Alabama quarterback Bryce Young with the first pick of the NFL draft.

Young seemed excited, and so were fans watching the draft at Bank of America stadium.

But the excitement...turned to sadness for the Panthers last season.

The team finished with a two and 15 record for the season. They fired head coach Frank Reich after 11 games and fired General Manager Scott Fitterer after the season.

Head coach Dave Canales and GM Dan Morgan are optimistic the Panthers will have a better season this year.
