Vault Visit | Taking a look back at the High Point Rockers inaugural season

The High Point Rockers started their inaugural season in April 2019.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — This year, WFMY News 2 turns 75! So, to celebrate, we are opening the WFMY News 2 Vault.

On April 18, 2019, we got an inside look at the future home of the High Point Rockers!

Crews were finishing construction at BB&T Point—the home of the Rockers.

As part of media day, our crews watched practice and chatted with some of the players.

The inaugural roster included Seth Simmons, a Winston-Salem native and ECU grad who was excited to start a new chapter in High Point.

"Being able to come here and help build a program is awesome. It's a great feel, and I think all the guys feel that they're able to start something from scratch, and that's huge. You don't get to do that very often, so it's going to be fun," Simmons shared.

The team started their inaugural season by playing away games the following week. Their first home game was on May 2, 2019.
