ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Alamance County Sheriff's Office honored a deputy who saved a life.

Sheriff Terry Johnson recognized Corporal Phillip Lowe, who was first on the scene after a man accidentally shot himself on a hunting trip back in March.

Corporal Lowe immediately prepared a tourniquet and then worked with EMS to apply it until he was taken to a hospital.

The deputy met the victim's family on Friday, where a mother, along with other family members, came to the sheriff’s office to personally thank him for saving her son's life.

The sheriff's office said Corporal Lowe was presented with the Alamance County Sheriff's Office Lifesaving Plaque and Lifesaving Pin.
