Man biking 3,000 miles along East Coast Greenway to celebrate 50+ years of Hip-Hop

Cyclist and Music Artist Anson Frazier of Boston made a stop in Greensboro to ride the Downtown Greenway.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Boston man is currently on a three-thousand-mile self-supported bike tour along the East Coast which is the birthplace of hip-hop.

Cyclist and Musical Artist Anson Frazier, also known by his stage name ANSON RAP$, is celebrating more than 50 years of hip-hop music with a major bike ride on the East Coast Greenway

In Early February he made a stop in Greensboro and rode along the Downtown Greenway.

“I enjoy being in nature,” Frazier said. “Art, music, and nature are a big part of hip-hop. It's a big part of the elements. Hip-hop is more than just rap. Hip-hop is the movement of the body. While biking I'm practicing records, I'm rehearsing my records, I'm writing new songs, and I'm making pit stops within musical cities."

Frazier said he started his journey on September 21, 2023, in Calais, Maine. He said he plans to finish his ride in Key West, Florida. Along the way, He's making pit stops in various cities to collaborate with other musical artists.

“I'm promoting healthy lifestyles for people of color,” Frazier said. “I feel like biking is something universal. It's ageless, and I don't see a lot of representation of people of color riding bikes, and I want to change that. I want to change that through songwriting. I want to change that through bike riding, and I want to change that through promotion."

Once Frazier finishes his journey along the East Coast, he hopes to plan a bike ride across the United States.
