Guns, illegal drugs, $10K seized from home, 2 High Point men arrested, police say

Two people were arrested after High Point police served a warrant at a home where guns, drugs, and $10,000 in cash were seized.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Police arrested two men who are facing nearly a dozen drug-related crimes after officers seized guns, illegal drugs, and thousands of dollars from a home in High Point Wednesday.

The High Point Police Department's Street Crimes Unit said they saw people with active arrest warrants walk into a home on the 400 block of Meredith Street around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 28. 

During the investigation, officers executed a search warrant at the home and found several items including: 

  • Two semi-automatic handguns 
  • Revolver 
  • 170 grams of heroin 
  • One pound of marijuana 
  • Nearly $10,000 in cash

Police said 18-year-old Aaron A. Hughes, 18, of High Point) is charged with: 

  • Trafficking, opium or heroin 
  • Conspire to traffic opium/heroin 
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute heroin 
  • Conspire to sell/deliver heroin 
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute cocaine 
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute schedule II controlled substance 
  • Felony possession of marijuana 
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute marijuana
  • Conspire to sell/deliver cocaine
  • Conspire to sell marijuana

Officers said 32-year-old Edward D. Ross, Jr., of High Point, is charged with: 

  • Possession of firearm by felon 
  • Trafficking, opium or heroin 
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute heroin 
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute schedule II controlled substance 
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute marijuana 
  • Felony possession of marijuana 
  • Maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for controlled substance 
  • Conspire to sell heroin (two counts) 
  • Conspire to sell cocaine 

Both suspects are in the Guilford County Jail – High Point under no bond.
