5 people shot after a fight in Lexington neighborhood, deputies say

Multiple people were injured after a fight led to a shooting on NC HWY 8 in Lexington, according to deputies.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Five people were injured in a shooting after a fight in a Lexington neighborhood, according to deputies. 

The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said it happened on Wednesday on the 7000 block of NC Highway 8.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found five people suffering from gunshot wounds at a home. All five people were taken to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, according to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office. 

After an investigation, detectives said an "altercation" happened in a neighborhood that led to a shooting involving multiple people. Investigators also said they are not looking for additional suspects and believe there is no further threat to the public.

This investigation is in the early stages and no charges have been filed. 

There is no word on the condition of those who were shot at this time.
