WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man is facing a murder charge after a stabbing in Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem police said they responded to a report of a stabbing on the 4000 block of Edgeware Road Wednesday around 9 p.m.

When officers arrived they found a man who was unresponsive and suffering from small cuts on his arm.

Police identified the victim as Jamie Jolyn Redding, 60, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Winston-Salem Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) assumed investigative responsibility of the death investigation.

The CID while working with the Forsyth County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Redding died from injuries he received during a fight.

As a result, officers charged Timothy Joe Whitlock, 58, with felony murder.

Whitlock is currently being held in the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center with no bond allowed.

Police said this was not a random act of violence and there was no danger to the community.
