One House Shot at 41 times; Violent Crimes Related To Gang Activity In High Point: Police

There were no fatalities as a result of several shooting in High Point but there were injuries. Police say the recent crimes are gang-related.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point Police Department responded to multiple incidents of gun violence over the  MLK holiday weekend.

In one instance, a home was shot at 41 times on Randolph Street. It was shot at 7 times in the early morning hours on January 19, and 34 times in the evening hours that same day.

According to the High Point Police Department, information gathered in the shootings indicates that they are all related to gang activity.

Shootings That Occurred On January 19, 2019

#1 4:06 am- The High Point police department responded to the 800 block of Randolph Street in response to a home being shot.

According to police, the shooting happened around 4:06 a.m.

Seven 9 mm casings and 1 live round were recovered from the street in front of the home.

The suspect car is described as a gold BMW SUV.  Children were inside the home when the shooting occurred.

#2 4:38 am- The High Point Police Department responded to Moffitt and Druid Dr. in response to shots being fired and suspicious activity.

 According to police, an unidentified person was beating on the back of doors, windows of several homes in the area. 

#3 10:30 pm- The High Point Police Department responded again to the 800 block of Randolph St. 

A person inside the home reported that two men got out of a gold BMV SUV and began shooting into the home.

Officers found 21 7.62 casings and 13 9 mm shell casings from the scene. 

Children were inside the home when the shooting occurred.

Shootings That Occurred On January 20, 2019

#4 12:08 am-  A home located in the 1400 block of Leonard Ave. was shot. Twenty 7.62 casings and 3.223 shell casings were found at the scene.

#5 1:40 pm- High Point Police responded to shots fired on Vail Ave. The victim of the shooting, Marcus Francies, was taken to High Point Regional Hospital.

Francies was shot in the left buttocks and the bullet traveled into his right leg. 

Francies was transported to Wake Forest Baptist and released, he is not cooperating with the investigation.

A possible suspect car in relation to the shooting is a newer white Ford F-150.

Thirteen 9mm shell casings were found at the scene.

#6 4:19 pm- Two men were shot in the 200 block of Moffitt Dr. Cameron Wright was shot in the chest and back and was taken to Wake Forest Baptist and went into surgery.

Davie Wade was shot in the leg and was taken to High Point Regional by Ledarrius Easterling in his car. 

Easterling dropped Wade off at the hospital and left.

Wade was uncooperative with the investigation. 

According to the High Point Police Department, Easterling drove to 1515 Franklin Ave and left the car. The car was found with numerous bullet holes and blood in the car. 

The High Point Police Department processed the car and with the help of Probation, Easterling was found and arrested for unrelated domestic warrants.

Easterling was interviewed by police but gave very little information.

A Search Warrant was then executed in the 200 block of Moffit Dr.

Serval shell casing were found and collected from outside the home. 

Numerous projectiles, 16.63 grams of suspected Heroin, numerous rounds of ammo, and an AR style rifle were found into the home.

#7 8:02 pm- Officers responded back to the 1400 block of Leonard Ave. after the house had been shot again. Ten 9 mm shell casings were found from in front of the home. No one was in the home at the time of the shooting.

Shootings That Occurred on January 21 

#8 7:28 pm- Officers responded to the 200 block of Idol St. in reference to a home being shot. 

Eight 9 mm shell casings were found in front of the home. 

Children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported.
