1 dead, 1 seriously injured in crash after being ejected from a car in Winston-Salem, police say

Winston-Salem police are looking for a car that was involved in a crash. They said one person died and another was seriously injured.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are still looking for one of the cars involved in a crash that left one person dead and another seriously injured in Winston-Salem.

Police said the crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday. 

When they got to US-52 northbound, near Akron Drive they found one car with a lot of damage in the roadway. 

Officers said they then found the driver underneath the car and the passenger lying in the roadway. 

Officers said the driver 23-year-old Cody Phillip-Wayne Jones was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and the passenger 19-year-old Victoria Rose Brown died at the scene. 

Through the investigation, officers found a car collided with another. The car with the two passengers then lost control and flipped several times. 

Police said both passengers were not wearing seatbelts and were both ejected from the car. 

Police said the other car involved left the scene.
