Judge orders Secrets Cabaret owners to sell property in nuisance business case

A final judgment was issued Friday. The owners of Secrets Cabaret must sell the property, and any future owners can't turn it into a strip club.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The owners of Secrets Cabaret must sell the property within six months, a judge ordered Friday in a nuisance abatement case.

The case was brought on by the City of Greensboro. The judgment comes one month after ALE agents raided the strip club on West Gate City Boulevard, where they seized drugs, money, and guns. Seven people were charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors.

Under the terms of the judgment, any future owners of the property will not be allowed to turn it into a strip club, gambling hall, or nightclub in the future.

Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan said the resolution is long overdue.

"I hope this judgment puts other property owners on notice that we will not tolerate nuisance activity and violence within the city of Greensboro," Vaughan said.

The judgment also means the current owners JEMM LLC and its corporate members will not be allowed to operate a nuisance property anywhere in North Carolina. Here's how the state defines a nuisance property.
