Person dead after a shooting on New Garden Road in Greensboro, police say

Greensboro police said 29-year-old Leighton Devoughn Lyons has died after a shooting on New Garden Road.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A person has died after a shooting at an apartment complex in Greensboro Saturday night, police say.

The Greensboro Police Department said they received a call about a shooting on the 2200 block of New Garden Road around 7:44 p.m.

When officers arrived, they said they found 29-year-old Leighton Devough Lyons with a serious injury.

Police said Lyons died at the scene from their injuries. 

The apartment complex Lakes at Lincoln Apartment Homes has confirmed the shooting happened on their property.

They are asking that residents take extra precautions.

The investigation is ongoing.
