Woman Charged After Man Found In Ditch During Hit-and-Run Investigation in Asheboro

A woman is facing numerous charges involving a hit-and-run in Asheboro that left a man in critical condition.

ASHEBORO, N.C.(WFMY)-- A woman is facing charges after a man was found earlier this week in a ditch. He had been hit by a driver who left the scene, Asheboro police say.

Police identified the man as 49-year-old Doyle Dean Henderson who is in critical condition at Cone Health.

The driver who hit him is 28-year-old Brittany Rae Ratley, according to police. Officers say they interviewed Ratley and a passenger Thursday as part of the investigation. During their investigation, they also looked at surveillance video from businesses in the area of the crime.

PREVIOUS: Tuesday morning just after 1 a.m., officers responded to a medical call in the 900 block of N. Fayetteville Street. A man was found lying in a ditch, seriously injured after being hit by a driver who left the scene of the accident. Investigators believe the driver was in a 2015-2017 Ford 150 pickup truck.

Police say Ratley is facing the following charges:

Felony Hit/Run Injury

Fail Maintain Lane Control

Reckless Driving to Endanger

Fail Stop Stop Sign/Flashing Red Light

Unsafe Passing Yellow Line

Her bond was set at $15,000. She has a court date later this month.
