Greensboro U.S. Marshals End Suspect's Two And A Half Year Run

Greensboro U.S. Marshals tracked down a man wanted for first degree sex offense Wednesday.

ID=20059273GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro U.S. Marshals tracked down a man wanted for first degree sex offense Wednesday.

Authorities said 37-year-old Javier Antonio Benitez-Fuentes had been on the run for nearly two and a half years. He was wanted by the Greensboro Police Department for two counts of first degree sex offense. Crime Stoppers received new information about where Benitez-Fuentes was living. The tip claimed he lived on Concord Street under the alias of Jose Benitez.

After investigators confirmed the information, they set up surveillance around the area. The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force surrounded the house and knocked on the door. Authorities said the suspect refused to open the door. Therefore, the Fugitive Joint Task Force forced its way into the house.

The suspect gave authorities an ID card with the name Jose Benitez. Authorities finger printed him on the scene and the print came back positive for Javier Antonio Benitez-Fuentes.

He was arrested and taken to the Guilford County Detention Center. He's in jail on a $100,000 bond.

U.S Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Greensboro Police department all helped make the arrest.
