GUILFORD COUNTY, NC -- A murder victim's friends are using Facebook to find justice for their late friend.

The page's organizer said the social media page was created to pay tribute to the late Vann Yates. Now, it is being used to help find the men responsible for the murder of Yates.

"With Vann, there is no goodbye. It is here one second and gone the next," said Bostic, who has known the murder victim for 25 years.

Guilford County deputies said Yates, 57, was killed Jan. 21. at his home on E. Fairfield Road in High Point. He was in his backyard with a friend, when two men stopped and asked to buy some lawn equipment. Colonel Randy Powers said the suspects tried to rob him and made other demands before shooting and killing Yates.

"For me to sit back and just know that these people, who did this to my friend are free to sleep in their own bed tonight and eat what they want to eat and be with their families, while our friend is dead, you know justice has to prevail," said Bostic. "I do believe it will eventually. I really, really, really, really do. I do believe they will be caught."

To help make that happen, Bostic is using Facebook to raise awareness and incentives for people with information to come forward.

"I do believe someone, somewhere in Guilford County knows where these guys are."

Bostic wants to increase the Crime Stoppers reward to $10,000.00 by Monday, February 9, 2015. She plans match the weekend donations.

"I have to do this for Vann because he's not here to do it himself, his mother is not here, dad's not here, brother lives in Florida, like I have to do this for him."

On Thursday, more money was offered for information about the men deputies believe killed a Guilford County homeowner in January.

The total possible reward for information on the murder suspects police believe killed Vann Yates is up to $7,850.00. Crime Stoppers will pay up to that amount for information leading to an arrest or indictment of the people responsible for the murder.

Since the shooting, deputies have released a sketch of the two men they believe are responsible for the murder. A witness described them as two young black males, one with a scar under his right eye.

Crime Stopper Donations can be mailed to the Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers, Inc - 2527 E Market St., Greensboro, North Carolina 27401 ***Please write VANN YATES in memo.***
