The delivery crew damaged the floor, but the company didn't want to pay to fix it. 2 Wants To Know gets the homeowner $968

The store that sold the fridge said it was the delivery company's responsibility.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The average life of a fridge is about 10 to 15 years. You can expect to pay anywhere from $675 to $2,500 to buy a new fridge and have it installed.

The installation is where a lot of folks have a problem. An Archdale woman bought a fridge back in April. She paid a little over $1,000 for it and it was delivered in May.

The problem is, that she said the delivery crew damaged her floor and her wall when they took out the old fridge and put in the new fridge. The floor has dings and dents in it, the wall has a chunk missing.

This summer, she tried to put in a claim with the delivery company, but they determined they were unable to compensate her for the incident.

Yes, she had pictures to prove it, but sometimes that’s not enough. Here’s a takeaway for all of us:

“Video substantiates the claim. Once the people who are delivering the fridge leave and you haven’t noted the damage they did to the door jam when they were leaving, they can say, we didn't do that,” said Brenda Garzia, Call For Action Volunteer.

At one point, the company relented and said they'd give her $200 to fix the floor. But the two estimates to fix it were in the $1,000 range.

Our Call For Action volunteers worked on her case and came to a more reasonable resolution. She got a check for $968.
