Police catch Grinch on dashboard camera 'stealing Christmas'

The Paramus Police in New Jersey released this video, which is part of a funny social media post about holiday safety.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Look at what a doorbell camera caught! A real-life Grinch, costume and all stealing packages off of a home porch. Is it the perfect get-up to get away with a crime? Nope.

It’s not real life. The video was done by Paramus Police of New Jersey. In it, you’ll see the Grinch stealing the packages, walking down the neighborhood, and then being spotted by the police. It's caught on the car cam as well and all of sudden, down goes the Grinch into a pile of leaves.

The video is funny, but the message is clear. There are porch pirates out there, grinches who will try to steal your Christmas, so take precautions. If you can have packages sent to your work, do it. If you have a neighbor you can ask to put the delivered package around the back of your house or under a bush or something, do it.

It wasn't just packages the police talked about in this funny video. Here’s what they had to say about car thefts.

“People still leave their key fobs in their car with their doors unlocked. You may as well send out a red carpet and leave out a charcuterie board for the thieves,” said Officer Kenneth St. Andrews.
