LENOIR, NC — Some folks felt the ground shake in the North Carolina mountains Monday night.
A small earthquake struck at 9:46 pm above 10 miles north of Lenoir, and about 14 miles southeast of Boone. The epicenter was roughly three miles deep.
The earthquake measured a 2.1 magnitude on the Richter scale, which is typically not strong enough to be felt over a large area.
Seven people reported the earthquake to the U.S.G.S.
