30 Pounds Of Cocaine Seized In Record Thomasville Bust: Police

30 pounds of cocaine were seized from tour buses at a Thomasville warehouse after a joint investigation.

THOMASVILLE, NC (WFMY) - A record cocaine bust was made in Thomasville last week, resulting in six arrests involving 30 pounds of cocaine.

An investigation showed that drugs were being driven to Thomasville from Mexico in tour buses where they were then distributed out into surrounding communities. The proceeds were then sent back to Mexico on the buses.

On Monday, Aug. 6, investigators executed a search warrant at a warehouse on the 1400 block of Unity Street where they found 27.68 pounds of cocaine from tour buses in a warehouse. Evidence from the warehouse led to Greensboro Police Department conducting a traffic stop where 2.5 pounds of cocaine was found.

A release from police said the amount of cocaine was a record seizure in Thomasville.

Those arrested were:

  • Jorge Luis Casas-Perez, 54, of Phoenix, AZ, was charged with felony possession of schedule II, level 3 trafficking cocaine by sell, level 3 trafficking cocaine by transport, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of selling/transporting illegal narcotics.
  • Jamie Luis Pelayo, 21, of Redwood City, CA, was charged with felony possession of schedule II, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II, level 3 trafficking cocaine by sell, and level 3 trafficking cocaine by possession.
  • Sergio S. Vazquez, 28, of Unity Street, Thomasville, was charged with felony possession of schedule II, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II, level 3 trafficking cocaine by sell, and level 3 trafficking cocaine by possession.
  • Jose Enriq Guzman Valenzuela, 27, of Greensboro was charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine.
  • Adrian Sierra Aranda, 32, of Guanajuato, Mexico was charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine.
  • Jorge Santiago Perez, 65, no address available, was charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine.

Thomasville's Special Operations Unit, Davidson County's Vice and Narcotics Unit, Homeland Security and Greensboro police conducted the joint investigation.
