As of 9:45 a.m. Monday four flights were canceled out of PTI:

  • American Airlines Flight 5173 to Washington, D. C. scheduled for 8:08 a.m.
  • American Airlines Flight 5118 to Charlotte, NC scheduled for 9:26 a.m.
  • American Airlines Flight 5242 to Washington, D. C. scheduled for 10:06 a.m.
  • American Airlines Flight 5419 to Charlotte, NC scheduled for 12:46 p.m.

Later in the afternoon, two more American Airlines flights were canceled.

This comes after days of trouble at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. PSA Airlines is an American Airlines regional carrier which is experiencing technical issues. The problems began back on Thursday and continued through the Father's Day weekend.

Sunday, the airline canceled 70 flights out of Charlotte, creating a ripple effect at other airports including PTI in Greensboro.

Sharon Pearson was part of the first wave of trouble on Thursday when the airline canceled 120 Charlotte-based flights.

“I was delayed a whole day and having to get to Seattle, Washington to see my daughter graduate,” said Pearson.

She flew out of PTI on Friday instead of Thursday, still making it to that graduation.

“Charlotte is the place that had most of the issues with flights being canceled. So it was quite shocking to hear that Greensboro’s flights were canceled today,” said Gradesa Lockhart.

Lockhart and her colleagues were supposed to fly out of PTI Monday, connect in Charlotte and head on to an education conference in New York. But this morning, she learned that flight was canceled. She learned the airline would provide a shuttle to Charlotte. She and around a dozen others chose that option to get to Charlotte and hoped their connecting flight would be still available when they got there.
