GREENSBORO, N.C. — Helping growing families is a passion for Courtney Hall. She said ensuring women have a healthy pregnancy is one of her top priorities.
“My goal is to advocate and get women to understand their rights and feel comfortable and confident in asking the right questions about their bodies, even when the small things don’t feel right,” Hall said.
Hall is the owner of Bump Baby Bliss. It’s a new doula, counseling, and ultrasound studio in Downtown Greensboro. She said being a mom with a long history as a therapist and doula inspired her to open the one-stop-shop.
“We all know that doctor offices, they care about us, but it’s definitely very business oriented,” Hall said. “They see over hundreds of people a day. I want it to be a place where you an come and have an experience. It’s a whole vibe. You feel good. You feel time has been taken to be spent with you.”
Katrina Ross is expecting her second child. She said she heard about Bump Baby Bliss through the Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s scary having a baby and bringing life into this world,” Ross said. “There are so many unknowns that can happen any moment during pregnancy. All you have is your gut instinct telling you if something feels right or wrong. Knowing you can go somewhere and ask questions and not be judged is everything.”
Hall said her business is the first Black-owned ultrasound studio in Greensboro. Her official grand opening is February 1. As a North Carolina A&T alum she said it was important to open on this day. The date celebrates the legacy of four NC A&T freshmen who played a major role in the Civil Rights Movement with their courageous sit-in at the Downtown Greensboro Woolworth’s lunch counter.
“They made a major mark in Downtown Greensboro,” Hall said. “I plan to make a major impact as well. I feel like when you’re working in your purpose, and working in something that you know God has placed you to do, it impacts the world.”
Bump Baby Bliss will have its grand opening at 3pm. The building is located on Martin Luther King Drive.
The studio offers a comprehensive range of services, including 2D, 3D, 4D ultrasounds, early DNA gender testing, birth doula support, placenta encapsulation, perinatal therapy, childbirth classes, breastfeeding, assistance, and mentorship.
