SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — On Wednesday, the Surry County Sheriff's Office was notified of a death in the Watershed/Pine Ridge Community.
During the investigation, deputies discovered that the death was suspicious and the case has since turned into a homicide investigation.
Deputies contacted the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to assist with the crime scene after the body was found.
Several law enforcement agencies have helped with the investigation including Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office (Virginia), Grayson County Sheriff’s Office (Virginia), Mount Airy Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service.
According to Sheriff Steve C. Hiatt, the suspect(s) related to this incident are in custody in another jurisdiction without bond.
The investigation is ongoing, additional details related to the cause of death will not be released at this time.
