DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Davidson County Tax Office is receiving reports of citizens receiving letters that appear to be from the tax office.

The letter is labeled "DISTRANT WARRANT" and instructs people to call an 800 number to dispute charges immediately. The letter does not contain a return address or a legible signature of who sent the letter.

The tax office is urging people to not respond and to let the County Tax Office know if they get a letter like this.

If anyone gets a real letter from the Tax Office concerning delinquent taxes, it will be marked and have the person's name you need to contact.

For any questions, please contact the Tax Department at 336-242-2160.
